Louisville man arrested for Jennings County murder

A Louisville man is facing murder charges in the death of a North Vernon man. The Jennings County Sheriff’s Department says that at around 7 p.m. Monday, deputies and Jennings County EMS were called to a home on Squire Lakes Boulevard in reference to a man being shot. Upon arrival, deputies found 23-year-old Donavon Booker, who had been shot in the upper torso. First aid was administered and Booker was transported to St. Vincent/Jennings Hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

Investigators and crime scene technicians from the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department and Indiana State Police labored throughout the night. Investigators worked with authorities from the Louisville Metro Police Department to positively identify and find those believed to be involved.

Jennings County authorities say that at approximately 11:45 a.m. Tuesday, Louisville Metro Police, acting on information provided by the Sheriff’s Office and ISP, conducted a search warrant at an address in Louisville. The search warrant resulted in the detention of three people, including the alleged shooter, 30-year-old Stephon Moore. He has been charged with one count of Murder and two counts of Attempted Murder for his alleged involvement. Moore is currently being held in a Louisville awaiting extradition to Jennings County.

Police say a fourth person is currently being sought for questioning.
