Kamp Out for Kids, chili sales raised $9k for Cheer Fund

Weekend events to raise money and toys for the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund generated about $9,000 according to officials.

The Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund held its annual chili cookoff on Friday, including a lunch offering for the first time and White River Broadcasting’s Indiana Country 101.5 WKKG held its Kampout for Kids event Friday and Saturday at Fire Station #1 in downtown Columbus.

Estimates are that the events generated $4,440 in cash, more than $1,000 in toy donations and $3,500 in chili sales.

Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund is the oldest charitable organization in Bartholomew County. Money raised goes to provide Christmas gifts for the needy children of the community.
