Columbus firefighters holding chili cookoff today; Kampout for Kids

Fundraising and the collection of toys for the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund kicks into high gear today, with the start of WKKG’s Kamp Out for Kids, and the fire department’s chili sales and cookoff.

White River Broadcasting’s Indiana Country 101.5 WKKG is holding our annual Kampout for Kids today and Saturday at Fire Station #1 in downtown Columbus.

You can bring your unwrapped new toys or cash donations to benefit the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund toy drive at Fire Station #1 until 7 p.m. today and from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday.

The annual chili cookoff will also be going on today, with the addition of lunch options. You can get chili from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Force on 4th Street. Or you can stop by Fire Station 1 for a chili drive-through from 5 to 8 p.m. this evening.

Fire Station #1 is at the corner of 10th and Washington streets in downtown Columbus.

The chili sales are by free will donation, which you can make by cash, check or online.

Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund is the oldest charitable organization in Bartholomew County. Money raised goes to provide Christmas gifts for the needy children of the community.
