Fever Catch Fire and Claim Commissioner’s Cup Title
Don’t look now, but the Indiana Fever are Cup Champions! Without Caitlin Clark on the floor, the Fever pulled off a massive upset over the WNBA-leading Minnesota Lynx, 74-59, in the Commissioner’s Cup Final last night.
Natasha Howard was the MVP in every sense, dropping 16 points and grabbing 12 rebounds while locking down Napheesa Collier on the other end. Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham, Aari McDonald, and Kelsey Mitchell each poured in 12 as the Fever’s balanced attack overwhelmed the top seed on their home floor.
Clark missed the game with a groin injury, but her teammates rose to the challenge—overcoming a 13-point first-half deficit and finishing the second quarter on an 18-0 run that completely flipped the script.
The win nets the team $500,000 in prize money and another $120,000 to charity, with the Fever’s contribution going to the Riley Children’s Foundation. For a team that’s been growing game by game, this was a massive step forward—not just for the players, but for Indiana basketball.
