Downtown events to celebrate Exhibit Columbus installations

Exhibit Columbus through the Landmark Columbus Foundation will have free events in downtown Columbus on Saturday, celebrating young designers and offering a community block party.

According to the group, there will be a Next Generation Day on Saturday from 10 to noon on the Library Plaza that will encourage youngsters to visit the downtown installations. The event will begin with a program recognizing the local STEM and Design Education Team and their instructors for their installations. That will include a performance by the youth orchestra and a special dance.

That will be followed by a scavenger hunt for children where participants must complete a task at each of the 13 installations to receive a stamp. The completed card can then be redeemed for a treat from Caypops or the Lemonade Bros.

A Rock the Block: Live And in Color block party will be from 7 to 10 p.m. at 4th and Washington Streets under the InterOculus canopy. It will include dance performances, a live DJ and dance floor. Although an all ages event, beer and wine will also be available from businesses in the Downtown Open Recreation Area.

The block party will be the culmination of the Columbus Pride Festival. It is free and you are invited to attend.

This is the fifth two-year cycle for Exhibit Columbus, which launched in 2016. The theme of this year’s Exhibit Columbus is “Yes and”, a phrase used by storytellers to encourage more conversation.
