Smith-Shawver Shuts Down Reds in Atlanta

Cincinnati was held to a single hit in Monday night’s 4-0 loss to the Braves. Atlanta’s AJ Smith-Shawver took a no-hitter into the eighth inning before Santiago Espinal broke it up. The lone hit extended Espinal’s hitting streak to six games.
Matt Olson delivered the key blow for the Braves with an inside-the-park homer. Reds rookie Tyler Callihan suffered a forearm injury while attempting to make a diving catch and was later diagnosed with a fracture. Cincinnati dropped to 18-18 and sends Andrew Abbott to the mound for game two of the series.
