ROUGH NIGHT ON THE COURT: LOCAL GIRLS TEAMS BATTLE, BUT COME UP SHORT

Tuesday night was a grind on the hardwood for local girls’ basketball teams, as Hauser, Columbus North, and Columbus East all fought hard but couldn’t secure wins.
Hauser Stalls Against North Decatur
The Hauser Jets hit turbulence early, struggling to get anything going offensively in a 42-27 loss to Mid-Hoosier Conference foe North Decatur. The Chargers’ defense completely grounded Hauser’s attack, holding them scoreless for the first 11 minutes of the game. By the time the Jets got off the runway, they were already trailing 20-0.
Despite the sluggish start, Braelyn Williams led the late surge with 13 points, while Norah Berkenstock added seven. With the regular season in the books at 10-12, Hauser now turns its focus to sectionals, where they will host Jac-Cen-Del on February 5.
Bull Dogs Struggle Against Roncalli
The Columbus North Bull Dogs found themselves in a tough fight on the road, falling 47-29 to Roncalli. Ava Wilson paced the Bull Dogs with seven points, but North struggled to find rhythm against a disciplined Roncalli squad.
Now sitting at 15-7, Columbus North will look to bounce back on Senior Night as they take on Rushville this Thursday in their regular-season finale.
Mooresville Pioneers Overwhelm Columbus East
The Columbus East Olympians ran into a red-hot Mooresville team, dropping a 67-46 decision on the road. Ella Anthis stood out once again, leading the scoring charge with 19 points, while Kenzie Cheek chipped in with eight.
Sitting at 1-19, East will try to end the regular season on a high note as they prepare to host Cathedral on Senior Night this Thursday.
