Reds Rock the Marlins as Wynns and Singer Orchestrate the Victory
The Cincinnati Reds wrapped up their business trip to Miami with a loud 5-2 win over the Marlins on Wednesday, thanks to a monster game from Austin Wynns and a mound gem from Brady Singer.
Wynns nearly hit for the cycle, launching a solo home run, roping a double, and adding a single—he now has a red-hot 9 hits in his last 11 at-bats. Brady Singer played the role of maestro on the mound, striking out eight across six innings to improve to 4-0 on the season. He kept Miami bats in check, issuing no walks and allowing just four hits.
TJ Friedl added to the offensive flair with a leadoff double and a stolen base, while Elly De La Cruz joined the league leaders with his 10th swipe of the season. Spencer Steer’s go-ahead RBI single in the fifth was the spark that put the Reds ahead for good. Emilio Pagán closed it out in the ninth for his fifth save of the year.
With the win, the Reds take the series and carry serious momentum into their weekend showdown at Colorado. Expect plenty more fireworks in the thin air of Coors Field.
