Reds Rally Falls Short as Mariners Win Game 2 in Cincinnati

The Cincinnati Reds fell behind early and couldn’t complete a late rally in a 5-3 loss to the Seattle Mariners Wednesday night.
Cal Raleigh hit home runs from both sides of the plate for the fourth time in his career, helping the Mariners build a 5-0 lead.
Reds starter Nick Martinez allowed four runs in 4.2 innings and fell to 0-3 on the season.
The Reds mounted a charge in the seventh, with Christian Encarnacion-Strand delivering a two-run double and scoring on a Jose Trevino single, but a double play ended the threat. Seattle’s Bryce Miller struck out eight in five innings for his first win of the season.
Cincinnati and Seattle will meet in the rubber match on Thursday.
