Purdue Powers Past Rutgers for Fourth Straight Win

The Purdue Boilermakers turned on the jets Thursday night, defeating Rutgers 68-50 on the road for their fourth consecutive win. Braden Smith and Trey Kaufman-Renn both dropped 16 points, while Fletcher Loyer added 13 and surpassed the 1,000-career-point milestone.
Purdue controlled the tempo from the opening tip, building an early lead and holding off Rutgers’ attempts at a comeback. The Boilermakers’ defense was the star of the night, forcing 16 Scarlet Knights turnovers and converting those into 11 points. With a sparkling assist-to-turnover ratio and efficient ball movement, Purdue dished out 18 assists while committing only eight turnovers.
The win improves Purdue’s record to 12-4 overall and 4-1 in Big Ten play. Up next, the Boilermakers host Nebraska on Sunday as they aim to keep their hot streak alive.
