Olympians Torch Corydon with Firepower and Flawless Fielding

The Columbus East Olympians were on fire Friday night, torching Corydon Central 11-1 in a dominant six-inning home win that felt more like a highlight reel than a ballgame. From the bump to the basepaths, East played nearly flawless baseball enroute to its second straight run-rule victory.
Sophomore phenom J.D. Rotert was lights-out on the mound, fanning nine Panthers over six innings and giving up just two hits. He brought the heat with 84 pitches and had Corydon swinging at air more often than not. And when he wasn’t dishing on the hill, he was dealing at the dish — going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI.
The bats were banging all night. Kaden Arnholt went 2-for-3 with a double, a pair of RBIs, and a stolen base. Bige Asher stayed perfect at the plate with a 2-for-2 effort and crossed home twice, while Eli Tindell also went 2-for-3 with two runs and a pair of RBIs. In total, six different Olympians tallied hits, and five different players scored.
East stole the show — and plenty of bags too — racking up eight stolen bases on the night. The defense was airtight for the second game in a row, playing error-free baseball with Logan Warren handling eight putouts at first.
Next up: the Olympians (2-1) host Scottsburg on Monday at 6 p.m. as they look to keep their bats blazing.
