North Boys Soccer Battles, But Falls Late to Millers

Columbus North’s boys soccer team opened the season with a true test on the road, squaring off against Class 3A No. 8 Noblesville. The Bull Dogs, ranked No. 13 themselves, showed plenty of bite but ultimately fell 2-1 in a rain-delayed battle.

After conceding in the 10th and 60th minutes, North roared back in the closing stages. In the 78th minute, Mathiang Kak rose above the defense to head home a free kick from Jony Renteria Garcia, trimming the deficit to 2-1.

North finished with nine shots, but just one on frame, as the Millers’ defense held firm. Goalkeeper Nicolas de Linan Palacios recorded three saves to keep the Dogs in striking distance throughout.

Though it ended in defeat, the opener showed North’s ability to compete with elite-level opposition — and a spark from Kak and company that could ignite the season ahead.
