LODOLO LIGHTS OUT: Reds Blank Nats, Set Franchise Record
The Cincinnati Reds brought the heat in D.C.—and Nick Lodolo brought the hammer.
Lodolo fired his first career complete-game shutout, mowing down eight Nationals and allowing just four hits in a 5-0 Reds victory. The performance not only halted a potential series sweep but etched the 2025 Reds into the record books with 33 consecutive series without being swept—a new franchise best.
Jake Fraley and Santiago Espinal each had two hits, while Noelvi Marte and Elly De La Cruz tacked on late RBIs to seal the deal. Lodolo’s gem also marks a personal best in innings pitched for the lefty, who now sits at 124.1 on the season.
With the victory, Cincinnati improves to 53-50, holding third in the NL Central behind the Cubs and Brewers. Next up, the Reds host Tampa Bay, with Nick Martinez taking the mound Friday to open the weekend set.
