Jets Lock Radar on Knightstown: Regional Title in Sight for Hauser
The Hauser Jets are flying into the Class 1A Regional with afterburners blazing as they prepare to clash with the third-ranked Knightstown Panthers this Saturday in Mitchell. The 2:00 p.m. matchup sets the stage for a high-stakes collision between two programs riding waves of momentum, and we’ll have the full call live on 1010 WCSI and 98.1 FM starting at 1:40 p.m.
Hauser (19-3) enters this regional matchup as one of the hottest teams in Indiana, fresh off their 14th straight victory — a 9-1 sectional title win over Oldenburg Academy. The Jets are soaring on both sides of the ball. Ace Simeon Wasil dominated the mound again, punching out 10 batters while surrendering just one earned run in a complete-game gem. But Wasil didn’t just toe the rubber — he also took the air out of Oldenburg’s sails with a 3-for-4 day at the plate, launching a home run and driving in three runs.
Stryker Gill added a turbo boost with a perfect 4-for-4 performance, stealing two bases and crossing the plate three times. R.J. Foster played his part in the offensive barrage with two hits, a double, and three runs scored. The Jets totaled 11 hits on the day, keeping Oldenburg’s defense scrambling and sealing the sectional with style.
Now, they face a high-octane Knightstown squad (23-4) that’s pounced on opponents all season. The Panthers bring power to the plate, averaging over 11 runs per game and hitting a robust .356 as a team. Their most recent win was a 24-7 dismantling of North Decatur — their third straight game scoring double-digit runs.
Knightstown is led by Cannon Hunt, who has posted video game numbers with a .750 batting average and .800 on-base percentage in limited appearances. Hauser, however, has the edge in defense, giving up just 47 total runs all year compared to Knightstown’s 101.
This one shapes up as a strength-on-strength showdown: Hauser’s airtight defense and pitching depth against Knightstown’s explosive offense. The Jets will be the designated away team on the scoreboard, but they’ll bring a Hope-filled following and battle-tested roster to Mitchell with one goal — punch a ticket to the semistate and keep this magical flight alive.
