IHSAA Adds Girls Flag Football as Emerging Sport

The Indiana High School Athletic Association made history this week by approving girls flag football as an emerging sport. The IHSAA Board of Directors voted 17-1 to add the fast-growing game to its official pathway for full recognition, with support from the Indianapolis Colts.
The move begins the process of building toward a potential state tournament in the future. With 65 schools already committed, the Colts and IHSAA are aiming for 100 participating programs statewide. The Colts will continue backing the effort through their “Road to 100” initiative, offering up to $10,000 in resources to each new team.
