Fever Without Their Star: Clark to Cheer From Sidelines During All-Star Weekend
The Indiana Fever will still set Gainbridge Fieldhouse ablaze with All-Star energy this weekend — but they’ll be without their brightest spark on the floor. Caitlin Clark, the Fever’s superstar guard and fan-voted captain for the AT&T WNBA All-Star Game, announced she will not play or participate in the STARRY® 3-Point Contest due to a right groin injury sustained earlier this week.
Clark’s absence leaves a noticeable gap in the Fever’s on-court firepower, but she’ll still be courtside coaching and inspiring as part of Team Brondello on Saturday. Though she’s sidelined, she remains a centerpiece of the festivities, helping the Fever family keep the heat turned up for Indianapolis’ biggest basketball weekend since hosting the NBA All-Star festivities.
Replacing Clark in the game will be Washington’s Brittney Sykes, while Atlanta’s Brionna Jones steps in for Satou Sabally, who is also out. Fans can still expect a thrilling All-Star showcase at 8:30 PM ET Saturday, where Kelsey Mitchell, Aliyah Boston, and the league’s biggest names will battle it out under the bright lights.
While Clark won’t take part in the 3-point contest either, her teammates and fellow sharpshooters will bring plenty of splash. Allisha Gray looks to defend her 2024 title in both the 3-Point and Skills Challenges, with Natasha Cloud, Skylar Diggins, and others eager to dazzle the crowd in Friday night’s contests at 8 PM on ESPN.
Fans can still enjoy a packed WNBA Live experience Friday and Saturday at the Indiana Convention Center. From interactive games and panel discussions to exclusive merch and meet-and-greets with basketball royalty, there’s no shortage of ways to feel part of the action.
So even though Clark won’t be bombing away from downtown this weekend, her presence — and the buzz she’s brought to Indy this season — remains at the heart of what promises to be an unforgettable All-Star celebration. The Fever torch remains lit, and the city is ready to shine.
