Fever Fight to the Finish But Fall Short in Las Vegas
Despite a furious fourth-quarter battle, the Indiana Fever dropped a hard-fought contest to the Las Vegas Aces, 89-81, on Sunday. The loss marks Indiana’s second straight setback, but they continue to show signs of growth in Year Two of the Caitlin Clark era.
Aliyah Boston led the charge for the Fever with 26 points, dominating the paint in the first half with 18 of those coming before halftime. Clark added 19 points and 11 assists in the backcourt but struggled to connect from deep, going 1-for-10 from beyond the arc—continuing a mini-slump from distance.
The Fever and Aces were tied 69-69 midway through the final frame before Las Vegas used a 9-2 run to pull away. A’ja Wilson, the reigning MVP, finished with 24 points and helped five Aces reach double figures. Indiana guard Kelsey Mitchell chipped in 20 points to help balance the attack.
This was not your typical road game for Indiana. The matchup was moved from Michelob Ultra Arena to the larger T-Mobile Arena on the Vegas strip, and a sea of Caitlin Clark jerseys filled the crowd. Despite the Fever’s recent shooting woes, the support from fans—especially those donning red and blue—was a promising sight for a team still finding its identity.
Indiana now sits 2-3 in its last five games and looks to regroup during the upcoming homestand. With Boston back to All-Star form and Clark commanding double teams, the ingredients for a winning stretch remain in place. The Fever will get another crack at the Aces later this season in Indianapolis.
