Fever Burn Bright Despite Late Clark Injury in Third Straight Road Win

The Indiana Fever kept the thermostat turned all the way up in Boston Tuesday night, extending their road winning streak to three games with a gritty 85–77 victory over the Connecticut Sun. In a night that saw some storm clouds in the form of Caitlin Clark leaving late with an apparent leg injury, the Fever still brought plenty of heat to TD Garden.
In front of a sold-out crowd of over 19,000, Indiana showed why their play in the paint is scorching opponents this summer. Kelsey Mitchell and Natasha Howard lit up the scoreboard, combining for 38 points. Howard threw some serious shade on the Sun’s glasswork, pulling down 13 rebounds to go with her 18 points.
Clark, who has battled through earlier injuries this season, struggled from the floor on the night but still contributed 14 points before exiting in the final minute. The Fever faithful will be holding their breath that their sharpshooting floor general can bounce back soon.
Tina Charles tried to shine for the Sun with 21 points and 11 boards, but Connecticut’s overall woes continued, dropping to 3–19 on the season. The Fever, meanwhile, continue to climb in the Eastern Conference standings, proving that when Indiana gets cooking, their opponents often get burned.
