Cubs Stumble in Finale but Stay Perched Atop NL Central

After winning the first two games of the series, the Chicago Cubs couldn’t complete the sweep on Sunday, falling 6–1 to the Red Sox. Despite a strong outing from Cade Horton, the bats cooled off while Boston’s power caught fire late.
Even with the loss, the Cubs remain perched atop the NL Central at 59–40, tied with Milwaukee but still very much in command of their own destiny. Their pitching continues to shine, their defense is crisp, and their lineup has enough pop to keep the Wrigley faithful roaring.
With the Royals coming to town next, the Cubs aim to get back to their winning ways and keep the Brewers at bay in what’s shaping up to be one of the fiercest divisional dogfights in baseball.
