Cubs Battle but Brewers Hold the Line

The Chicago Cubs have been barking loudly in the NL Central chase, but Thursday night saw the Milwaukee Brewers push back with a 4-1 win at Wrigley Field.
Michael Busch and Matt Shaw had been the offensive spark earlier in the week, but this time it was Brice Turang’s two-run blast that silenced the Friendly Confines. Despite drawing eight walks and loading the bases multiple times, the Cubs left 11 runners stranded — a tough pill for a team chasing the Brewers in the standings.
Still, Chicago (73-55) remains firmly in the playoff mix, and the Cubs’ pitching continues to be a bright spot. Shota Imanaga worked seven strong innings, showing once again why he’s been a rotation ace.
With a trip to Anaheim up next, the Cubs will look to claw their way back into the win column. If they keep creating chances, the North Siders will be barking back at the division leaders soon enough.
