Crosstown Rivalry Heats Up in the Pool
The lanes were sizzling at the Chuck Newell Natatorium as Columbus East and Columbus North faced off in their annual crosstown swim meet. The Olympians’ boys team made waves with a 113-71 victory, while the Bull Frogs’ girls squad rolled to a dominant 137-42 win.
East’s Todd Hundley and North’s Aarush Mahato battled neck-and-neck in the 200 IM, with Hundley touching first by less than a second. Meanwhile, East’s Misha Machavariani pulled off a thrilling 100 butterfly win, edging out North’s Diego Cotero Tapia by just 0.05 seconds. On the girls’ side, Mridula Muthukumaran was a stroke above the rest, winning two events and helping North sweep the relay races.
