Crimson Pride Volleyball Starts Season With Historic 4-0 Run

IU Columbus volleyball turned heads at the Huntington Forester Tournament, storming out of the gates with a 4-0 record — the first such start in program history.

The Crimson Pride swept Governors State and Wilberforce on Friday, then battled through a five-set thriller with Governors State again Saturday before closing the weekend with a dominant sweep of Calumet St. Joseph.

Junior outside hitter Cora Baker racked up 36 kills across the four matches, while setter Bailey Stevens dished out 75 assists. Senior transfer Ruthie Bingham came up clutch in the marathon five-setter, tallying 16 kills to seal the historic win.

The Pride return to action with exhibitions at Hanover and Marian before resuming regular-season play at the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Showdown. The home opener is set for Sept. 9 at Ceraland against Franklin.
