Crimson Pride Stumbles Against Division I Evansville

The IU Columbus women’s basketball team hit a road bump yesterday, falling 84-52 against the Division I University of Evansville Purple Aces. While the game started with promise—freshman Amaya Collins scoring early and often—the Crimson Pride couldn’t keep pace with Evansville’s smothering defense and relentless rebounding.
Collins led the team with 14 points, showcasing her sharpshooting skills, while Jacelyn Starks matched her output and added five assists. But turnovers and missed opportunities in the second quarter left the Pride playing catch-up, with the Aces pulling away to a commanding halftime lead.
In the second half, Evansville dominated the glass, out-rebounding IU Columbus 49-28 and creating second-chance opportunities. Despite a valiant effort, including sophomore Abby Fleetwood contributing 7 points and 6 boards, the Pride couldn’t claw their way back.
The Pride will look to regroup over the holidays before diving back into conference play on January 4. Fans, mark your calendars—this young team shows plenty of potential for a big bounce-back in 2025.
