Columbus North Girls Shine in Swimming Sectionals

Mridula Muthukumaran stole the spotlight for Columbus North in Saturday’s Sectional meet, qualifying for the state finals in two events with personal-best performances.
  • Muthukumaran upset top-seeded Emily Wang of Bloomington South to win the 200-yard individual medley in 2:13.82, and later pulled off another shocker by winning the 100 butterfly with a time of 59.86.
  • She also contributed to strong relay performances, helping the Bull Frogs to third-place finishes in both the 200 medley relay (1:55.70) and 200 freestyle relay (1:44.70).
Columbus East’s Connelly Furnish narrowly missed state qualification, finishing second in the 500 freestyle (5:20.98) and third in the 200 IM (2:19.44).
Bloomington South claimed the team title, while Columbus North finished fourth overall, and Columbus East placed seventh.
