Colts to Induct Jim Irsay into Ring of Honor in Season Opener
The legacy of late Colts owner Jim Irsay will be forever etched into franchise history this fall as the team announced his induction into the Ring of Honor will take place during the season opener on September 7 against the Miami Dolphins.
Irsay, who passed away in May at age 65, took over ownership of the team in 1997 after the death of his father, Robert Irsay, and served as a passionate steward of the franchise for nearly three decades. His tenure included 10 division titles, two AFC Championships, and a Super Bowl victory in 2006.
Known for his larger-than-life personality and deep love of music, sports, and the city of Indianapolis, Irsay helped transform the Colts into a model of consistency in the NFL. He will become the 20th inductee into the team’s Ring of Honor—joining greats like Peyton Manning, Tony Dungy, and Reggie Wayne.
Now led by his daughters, Carlie Irsay-Gordon, Casey Foyt, and Kalen Jackson, the Irsay legacy continues into a new chapter. But on September 7, the spotlight will shine on the man who helped build the horseshoe into a symbol of pride for the state of Indiana.
