Cardinals Silence Reds’ Bats
The Cincinnati Reds were kept caged in St. Louis Tuesday night, dropping a 3-0 contest as the Cardinals controlled the game from the opening pitch.
Michael McGreevy tossed seven strong innings for the Cards, while Thomas Saggese provided the big blow with a two-run homer in the third. Cincinnati starter Andrew Abbott struck out seven but was tagged for three runs before giving way to a spotless bullpen.
The loss was another tough one in the Wild Card race, as the Reds fell three games behind the Mets. They’ll turn to Brady Singer in Wednesday’s finale to try and snap the skid.
