Bull Dogs Battle the Greyhounds: No. 22 North Pushes No. 1 Carmel in 4–1 Test
Boys Tennis | No. 1 Carmel 4, No. 22 Columbus North 1
Columbus North stepped into a state-finals-level practice exam and proved it can run with the fastest Greyhounds on the block. The Bull Dogs’ lone point was a marquee one: Alek Devidze out-paced Carmel star Andrew Kim in a three-set showpiece 6-3, 4-6, 6-1, turning defense into offense with patient depth and timely first-ball strikes.
Elsewhere, the top-ranked Hounds showed why they’ve been lapping the field. Max Wei ran into a clean ball machine at No. 2 (6-1, 6-0), and Jace Branham absorbed persistent pace at No. 3 (6-4, 6-2). Doubles went down to the wire: Teddy Littrell/Vince Sasse split the first two sets and dragged No. 1 dubs to a breaker before falling 2-6, 6-0, 7-6 (6), while Jaishal Padmanabhan/Harsil Gandhi were edged 6-3, 6-2 at No. 2.
This wasn’t a stumble; it was a stride. North (3–1) leaves Indy knowing its bite plays statewide—and that Devidze can hang with any top dog in the bracket.
