Bull Dogs Bag Another Sectional Title with Sweep of Lancers

The No. 18-ranked Columbus North girls tennis team breezed to another sectional title Friday, sweeping Edinburgh 5-0 without dropping a single game on the court. The Bull Dogs entered with a 1-0 advantage due to a Lancer forfeit at No. 2 doubles and never looked back.

Aya Saad, Lucy Bergman, and Ayane Umemura each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. In doubles, Annabelle Sun and Nino Akhalaya were equally dominant, while Grace Conner and Lizzie Bodart claimed the forfeit point.

Columbus North improves to 14-6 and will now prepare for regional play, while Edinburgh ends its season 2-14 after a semifinal win over Columbus East. Head coach Kendal Hammel praised his team’s professionalism and focus despite a less challenging bracket.
