Boilermakers Blast Ball State in Barry Odom’s Boiler Debut

Purdue detonated its season opener with a 49-yard strike on the first snap and never lifted its foot, blanking Ball State 31-0 at Ross-Ade. Ryan Browne looked every bit the captain — 311 yards, two touchdowns through the air, plus a rushing score — while Devin Mockobee churned tough yards and Michael Jackson III announced himself in black and gold with a touchdown grab.
The defense pitched a modern shutout, smothering third downs and protecting the paint. After a 1-11 season, the Boilermakers look…well…built — and Odom’s first W fits the new blueprint.
