Boiler Up: Mockobee’s Wildcat punches, Browne’s darts push Purdue to 2–0

Purdue 34, Southern Illinois 17 — College Football

The Boilermakers heard the Salukis bark first—down 7–0 and 14–7—then cranked Ross–Ade like a steam plant. Devin Mockobee was the sledgehammer, pounding 126 rushing yards and a pair of 1-yard Wildcat TDs (his first multi-score night). Ryan Browne matched early punches with first-quarter TD strikes to Arhmad Branch (13) and Nitro Tuttle (29), then let the defense throw the lid on the pot.

Barry Odom’s crew authored a second-half three-point squeeze with 3 sacks and 7 TFLs, erasing explosives and winning third down. At 2–0, Odom becomes Purdue’s first head coach to start that hot since 1916. Next up: USC—the warm-up playlist is over, the main set starts now.
