Uncovered memo shows plan to convince Pence on alternate electors
A newly released memo allegedly shows how former President Trump and his allies sought to use Vice President Mike Pence to overturn the results of the 2020 election using fake slates of electors.
The New York Times obtained a copy of the internal memo drafted on December 6th, 2020 by lawyer Kenneth Chesebro. It supposedly lays out the plan to create alternate electors to vote for Trump in multiple states won by Joe Biden that could then be counted by Pence, a Columbus native.
The plan ultimately failed as Pence refused to go along with the plot. The effort is reportedly a key piece in special counsel Jack Smith’s indictment against Trump related to the Capitol riot.
