Trooper credited with saving girl at Indiana State Fair

An area Indiana State Police trooper saved the life of a girl this weekend at the Indiana State Fair.
According to the Versailles State Police post, Trooper Detective Vincent Scott were on patrol at the fair’s midway at about 9:20 p.m. Saturday night, when he noticed a girl take a drink from a lemon-shake-up and immediately have trouble breathing. The 14-year-old girl grabbed her throat, a clear indication that she was choking.
Scott jumped in to assist, he performed the Heimlich maneuver about three times before the object in her throat dislodged. She was immediately able to breath again, police say.
Scott’s partner on fair duty, Trooper Ryan Hale from the Fort Wayne district, radioed for medics to come to assist. She was taken to the medical facilities on the fairgrounds for further treatment and is expected to make a full recovery without any lasting effects.
Scott has served with the Indiana State Police for over five years while Hale has served nearly two years as a trooper.
