Thousands of THC-laced vape cartridges found during traffic stop

Indiana State Police say a targeted traffic enforcement blitz last week led to the discovery of a rental truck full of THC vape cartridges and the driver’s arrest.

According to the agency, troopers targeted the patrol in Bartholomew and Jackson County, looking for unsafe drivers. A trooper stopped a rented home improvement van on Interstate 65 in southern Bartholomew County. After getting suspicious, a Jackson County Sheriff’s deputy with a police dog came to the scene and alerted to the smell of drugs inside the vehicle.

A search uncovered more than 10,000 vape cartridges believed to contain THC.

The driver tried to run from the authorities, but was taken into custody. 23-year-old Alix Berry of Louisville Kentucky was booked into the Bartholomew County Jail on felony charges for dealing marijuana and resisting law enforcement at 12:13 a.m. Saturday morning.

Troopers say that their targeted patrols also led to 19 traffic citations and 44 warnings along with three commercial vehicle inspections that uncovered 14 federal motor carrier safety violations.
