State troopers enforcing Move Over Law on highways

Indiana State Police are on the lookout for drivers who aren’t getting out of the way of emergency vehicles or vehicles stopped on the shoulder.

According to the state police, troopers have been raising awareness of the Move Over Law in conjunction with the Six State Trooper Project. Indiana law requires vehicles to completely move over from the right lane, or to slow to 10 mph below the speed limit, when you come across a vehicle on the shoulder with yellow hazard lights on. That also applies to emergency vehicles, state highway vehicles or tow trucks with lights on.

The Move Over campaign is going on through Saturday.

The Six State Trooper Project also includes troopers from Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
