Jennings County authorities arrested a man after he went onto a school property, despite being a convicted sex offender.

According to the Jennings County Sheriff’s Department, a school resource officer was alerted that a man who was listed as a sexually violent predator had been on school property. The incident occurred when the school was not in session and no children were present. The man had already left the premises and the results of the investigation were forwarded to the Jennings County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

A warrant was issued for 32-year-old Brandon Strickland of North Vernon on a felony charge of Unlawful Entry of School Property by a Serious Sex Offender. While searching for him, deputies found that he had not lived at the address listed in the sexual offender registry for at least nine months. He was eventually found behind a local business and taken into custody without incident.

In addition to the warrant, he is also facing a felony charge of failing to register as a sex offender.
