Search suspended for missing man in Edinburgh river
A search has been called off for a missing man in the Big Blue River near Edinburgh.
Indiana Department of Natural Resources Conservation officers made the decision to suspend the search Saturday night, for a man who disappeared into the river on Thursday afternoon.
Lt. Angela Goldman with DNR reports that the river level dropped Saturday, and crews were able to enter the water to conduct a more thorough search. However they were still unsuccessful locating the possible victim. She said that that the water remains swift in many areas, making a complete search impossible.
She said that emergency personnel have scaled back the search effort, but they will continue to monitor and search the river as conditions allow.
No missing person report had been filed in the incident and the possible victim remains unidentified, Goldman said. Witnesses saw an unidentified man go into the river near the low-head dam at about 5 Thursday afternoon..
