Reports: Honda to move new Civic production to Indiana
Honda will reportedly move production of its next Civic hybrid car to Indiana due to possible tariffs against Mexico.
That’s according to Reuters which cited people familiar with the matter. The carmaker had been set to produce the cars in Mexico. President Trump has said a 25-percent tariffs on goods from Mexico and Canada will go into effect today.
The Greensburg plant in Decatur County is Honda’s only plant in the state. According to the company, the 1.3 million square foot plant has 2,500 associates and now produces the Civic Hatchback, CR-V, Insight Hybrid. It has the capacity to produce 250,000 vehicles per year.
According to the report, Honda plans to begin building the new Civic model in Indiana starting in May 2028. However, Honda has not officially announced that the new Civic hybrids would be produced in Greensburg.
