Officials warn of unhealthy air quality in area

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared an Air Quality Action Day for today including parts of our area.

Combining  above average temperatures, sunny skies, and light wildfire smoke is leading to an warning from the agency that the air quality might be unhealthy for some people. Children, the elderly, anyone with heart conditions or with respiratory disease, such as asthma, should limit prolonged outdoor exposure today.

The affected area includes Jackson and Jennings counties in southern Indiana.

The warning is in effect until midnight tonight.
