North Vernon police make arrests in theft and drug investigation

North Vernon police have made several arrests in what they are calling a large-scale theft and drug investigation.

According to the police department, the investigation began after a break-in of a storage unit reported on West Hayden Pike. That led police to serve warrants at two locations. Drugs were found at both locations which led to more search warrants and arrests.

At the first location, police arrested Anthony Harr on charges for theft, possession of methamphetamine and of marijuana. John Bates was also found at the property and police discovered he had an outstanding warrant. A search also revealed he was carrying heroin.

At the second location police arrested Melissa and Darrell Linscott. Melissa Linscott is being accused of theft, Possession of and dealing Dealing Methamphetamine, Neglect of a Dependent, Possession of Paraphernalia, and Obstruction of Justice.

Darrell Linscott is facing a charge for possessing meth.

Task Force Commander Graham Heffelfinger said that thefts and drug activity often go hand in hand. He said that North Vernon police “will continue to aggressively investigate and pursue these cases to protect our community, hold offenders accountable, and ensure a safer North Vernon for everyone.”
