New Columbus police officer sworn in
The city of Columbus is welcoming a new police officer.
According to Columbus Police Department, Officer Jesse Neikirk was swiorn in this morning by Columbus Mayor Mary Ferdon.
Neikirk graduated Mount Carmel High School in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Marines Corps for eight years including two tours of Afghanistan, rising to the rank of sergeant. Neikirk worked for the Illinois Department of Corrections as a lieutenant correctional officer. He most recently worked as a patrol officer with the Evansville Police Department.
After a short orientation period Neikirk will begin the Columbus Police Department field training program.
