Local Salvation Army celebrates start of endowment fund
The Salvation Army is announcing a new Hometown Endowment Fund for the Bartholomew County organization. The goal is to support Salvation Army local programs and services for years to come.
According to the charity, the fund was made possible by a gift from an anonymous Columbus couple. The couple are long-time Salvation Army supporters who saw a brochure from the Salvation Army Indiana Division about the Hometown Endowment Fund program that was already operational in about a dozen communities across the state. Recognizing that Bartholomew County did not have a fund set up, the couple consulted with a financial planner and made a donation to start the fund here.
Captain Amy Tompkins, who oversees the local Salvation Army in Columbus said that the fund will provide for major upgrades to existing services here.
