Local Colleges to Host Events This Week
The Columbus AirPark Campus will be hosting a fall festival, food drive and free movie night this week to raise food for the hungry.
According to Ivy Tech Community College Campus in Columbus, the school along with IUPUC and Purdue Polytechnic will be hosting the events on Thursday, built around sessions offering help with the Free Application For Federal Student Aid. The FAFSA is required for students to be considered for financial aid including grants, scholarships, and student loans. It also must be filed to be eligible for Indiana financial aid.
The food drive will be from noon to 6 p.m. to benefit students in need at the three schools. Items can be dropped off outside the Columbus Learning Center on Central Avenue. Anyone who donates two or more items will receive a food voucher that can be redeemed at the fall festival. You can find a list of items being sought on our website.
The fall festival will be from 3 to 6 p.m. and will include feature free events for students and community members, including pumpkin decorating, trick-or-treating, games, children’s activities and the FAFSA workshop.
Anyone attending the FAFSA event will also receive a voucher for a free meal to be redeemed at the Fall Festival.
Concessions will be available for purchase.
A free showing of the movie “Hocus Pocus” will begin at 6 p.m. You should bring a blanket or chairs if you plan to attend the film.
The event is open to the community and concessions will be available for purchase.
