Latino festival launches with Friday lunch in downtown Columbus
Fiesta Latina will be celebrated Friday in the streets of downtown Columbus
The 10th anniversary version of the festival is moving to Friday for the first time.
It is being organized by the Community Education Coalition’s TuFuturo and Su Casa Columbus.
Ashley Caceres, executive director of Su Casa, explains
According to organizers, the festival is a celebration of Latino culture and will include live music, mariachi, cultural booths, food vendors, traditional dancing, arts and crafts and more.
Luz Elena Michel, head of Tu Futuro, explains
Also for the first time, the event will start at lunchtime Friday on Fourth Street. Organizers say that the food will include contributions from around the Spanish-speaking world.
Caceres explains:
Musical entertainment will begin at noon with La Catedral Nortena. Raices Folkore will start the music again at 5 p.m. The headline act Friday night will be DJ Sonido Zeuz.
Caceres talks about the importance of supporting Latinos in the community.
It will be going on starting at 11 a.m. Friday morning with lunch on Fourth Street, then expanding onto the 300 block of Washington Street and lasting through 10 p.m. in the evening. kidscommons is the event sponsor for the festivities.
