Johnson County park celebrating first responders Saturday
UpLift Johnson County will be holding a community day on Saturday at Proctor Park in Whiteland, celebrating the new location of the Pathway of Honor and the First Responders Memorial at the park.
Proctor Park was created as a peaceful place to honor and remember all veterans and first responders. The Pathway of Honor has been relocated from the back of the park to the entryway. The area also now features monuments dedicated to first responders from the past and present who put their lives on the line.
A memorial to Trooper Aaron Smith is also at the park. He served in the Indiana State Police for 12 years before dying in the line of duty on June 28th of 2023.
The event is meant to honor the bravery and sacrifice of first responders and to provide an afternoon of fun, food and entertainment.
The event is free and you are invited to attend. It will be from 1 to 4 p.m. at the park on Tracey Road in New Whiteland.
