Indiana task force makes arrests, rescues children from abuse
Indiana State Police are calling Operation Guardian Angel a success.
According to troopers, the Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force led the new initiative that started in August. It involved investigations into peer-to-peer file sharing online through undercover operations. The operation also worked to identify child victims of sexual abuse. They say that Operation Guardian Angel resulted in 252 investigations that grew out of citizen complaints with more than 2200 tips received. There were 48 arrests made including 14 hands-on offenders, and six registered sex offenders.
Troopers say that 14 children were rescued from ongoing abuse.
The Indiana Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force is a multiagency group that investigates and prosecutes persons who use the internet to exploit or entice children sexually.
