IDEM seeks your waste thoughts at Jackson County open house

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management is looking for your thoughts on proposed changes to how the state and communities handle solid waste.

According to the agency, Jackson County will be one of the sites around the state to hold an open house on the development of the newest Indiana State Materials Management Plan. The plan will replace Indiana’s 35-year-old Solid Waste Plan, which focused primarily on traditional recycling and waste disposal. The new plan will focus on better access to recycling, organics management, and waste reduction.

The open house will be held Wednesday from 2 to 6 at the Jackson County Public Library on Second Street.

If you attend you will have a chance to learn about the process, ask questions, and provide your feedback. IDEM representatives will be on hand to answer questions and gather your thoughts.
