Hope looking for thoughts on housing repair grants

The Town of Hope will be holding informational sessions on a possible grant program to help repair local homes.

The town is planning to apply for the Owner Occupied Rehabilitation Housing grants program, which can provide grants to help low and moderate income homeowners improve and stay in their homes.

If the town is selected, the money can go to provide essential home repairs such as roof repair or replacement, ADA accessibility, heating and cooling replacement, lighting and electrical upgrades, and water heater replacement.

The grants would be limited by income on a sliding scale with a single person home limited to those with just over $57 thousand in income all the way up to an eight person home with a limit of almost $108 thousand dollars.

The public engagement sessions are coming up on Sept. 16th. with one at 9 a.m. at Willow Leaves of Hope and one at 4 p.m. at the Hope Town Hall.

There will be a public hearing at the Hope Town Hall in October.
