Hope area fire causes heavy damage to home
A home was a total loss after a fire last night in Hope.
According to the Hope Volunteer Fire Department, firefighters were called to a reported structure fire in the 19 thousand block of East County Road 750N at about 9:30 p.m. last night.
Crews arrived to find a single story modular home built on a foundation that was showing signs of heavy fire. Firefighters tried several times to make an offensive attack, however when the roof failed and it was unsafe to enter the home, firefighters switched to a defensive position. More than 18,000 gallons of water were used to bring the fire under control, including the use of a dump tank for the water supply.
No injuries were reported.
Hope firefighters were assisted at the scene by Burney, Clay Township, Hartsville and Flat Rock volunteer fire departments along with Hope police and Bartholomew County deputies.
