Gas station worker accused of Sunday morning rape

A gas station attendant is facing rape charges after a Sunday incident in Edinburgh.

According to the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department, a victim from Edinburgh came to Johnson County Memorial Hospital saying that she had been assaulted at the store in the 13000 block of North U.S. 31 at about 3:22 a.m. Sunday morning.

After interviewing the victim, police arrested 24-year-old Varinderpal Singh of Edinburgh, who works at the station. He is facing a preliminary charge of rape.
