Forecasters warn of 100+ heat index today

Forecasters say that we will be in for extremely hot and humid weather today.

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis warns that while the real temperature will be in the low 90s this afternoon, the humidity is going to make that feel like it is up to 105 in some parts of our area.

They suggest that you drink plenty of fluids, stay in air-conditioned spaces if you can and stay out of the sun today. You should also check in on friends, relatives and neighbors who might be vulnerable to the extreme heat.

A heat advisory has been declared this afternoon for far southern Indiana, including counties south of Jackson County.
